Personality features of sexual offenders who committed offences against children

While attention has been given to maladaptive personality traits in the sexual offending literature, little is known about how individuals who engage child abuse (CSOs) score on general traits, and subgroups of CSOs vary these traits. This study investigated (subgroups of) (n=57) as compared those nonsexual (n=33) nonoffending controls (n=36) by using HEXACO model Reinforcement Sensitivity Theory. Results revealed that features are more similar subgroup than subgroup. Whereas showed may affect their self-regulatory abilities, impair socio-affective functioning. However, an enduring pattern did display a constellation typically found antisocial individuals.
